Speaker: Dr Ryosuke Ogaki, Biomedical Surface Group, Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center, Aarhus University, Denmark
Title: Biomedical Interfaces Engineering: Controlling biological entities at all scales

Time: 13:00 (Pizza); 13.15 Talk starts

Abstract:
Ability to desirably manipulate interactions that occur between abiotic/biotic interfaces from millimeter to nanometer scale holds a profound importance in the field of biomedical engineering and technology, ranging from protein microarrays, biosensors, implants to regenerative medicine. In this talk, I will provide an overview of our recent and current research activities surrounding this area, where a variety of surface engineering and characterisation tools have been employed to generate functional 2D platforms for controlling biological entities from proteins and bacteria to mammalian cells. In particular, novel methodologies for nanoscale patterning of proteins and generation of robust long-term bio-resistant coatings will be highlighted.
