Innovative Learning Week 2013 - An Engineering Perspective

The School of Engineering enjoyed a very successful Innovative Learning Week this year, running from Monday 18 to Friday 22 February.

Students in the School of Engineering, and students and staff from across the University completed a number of exciting projects. In response to last year's student feedback, the School offered more site visits, including a very successful visit in conjunction with the Chemical Engineering Society to the INEOS Refinery in Grangemouth. The School also offered more hands-on practical activities, including a collaborative project bringing together students from Engineering and Edinburgh College of Art to create works of art. Engineering students themselves also offered a number of extremely successful projects, including practical workshops through Engineers Without Borders, a Soapbox Car Build with the aim of entering the Red Bull Soapbox Race, and a Careers Night arranged by the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) Edinburgh Branch Graduates and Students Committee.

Feedback from our students and participants has been extremely positive, and we are already looking forward to planning more opportunities in ILW 2014.
