A select group of engineers were invited to participate in the handover ceremony for the Queensferry Crossing on Monday 28 August 2017.
Among them - and representing the students of the University of Edinburgh - was Hangyu Xu, a bridge engineer and current student on the 'Structural and Fire Safety Engineering' MSc. He even got to meet the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.
The ceremony marked the official handover of the new bridge from the contractors to the Scottish Government. The bridge will open to traffic on Wednesday 30 August, and will be officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen on Monday 4 September.
