Application Availability and Usage
Available Applications:
- School Core Applications - Cross-platform, school-supported applications for everyday tasks (documentation being updated)
- Linux/Windows Packages (mainly educational versions of commercial packages)
- Linux Applications - Applications available on Linux (both staff/PG and teaching/Open Access Labs) (documentation being updated)
- Linux Cad Tools - Cadence, Mentor, Xilinx, design kits etc
- Unix Applications - Applications available on Unix (documentation being updated)
- Windows Applications: Staff/PG - Availability and Installation of Windows XP applications within Eng (Staff/PG)
- Windows Applications: Labs - Windows XP applications available in the School PC and central Open Access Labs (documentation being updated)
- Office productivity tools - Open Office (now being replaced by LibreOffice) available on Linux and Windows
Licences:
Most applications have licence restrictions of one kind or another. A number use the flexlm licence manager. The page shows the software that uses flexlm and the number of licences available for each application and who is using them (access to this page is restricted to within Eng).

New applications:
Before any new application may be introduced for use within the School network, a detailed case must be submitted for to the IT team for consideration by the team and the budget holders. The required forms are to be found under:
