The University of Edinburgh is one of the world’s top 20 institutions of Higher Education. The School of Engineering reflects all of the University’s principal characteristics, with a cosmopolitan academic staff numbering over 100, and with a body of 1,350 undergraduate and 450 postgraduate students drawn from all over the world. We carry out internationally excellent teaching and research, attracting high-calibre students and an excellent level of research funding. To build further on our success, we are now seeking to appoint up to 5 new Lecturers or Senior Lecturers, as follows:
• Chemical Engineering (3 posts) – the research activity of one of the new appointees will be in Chemical Reaction Engineering/Catalysis, where we have recently appointed to a new Chair; the research of the other two appointees will be in areas that strengthen existing activities in the School;
• Civil Engineering (1 post), with an emphasis on Structures;
• Mechanical Engineering (1 post), to work in Wind Energy or Energy Storage.
The successful candidates will be internationally prominent in the above research fields/disciplines, or will demonstrate potential to be so, through a track record of excellent research. They will be expected to provide excellent vision and delivery in teaching and research, as well as contributing to the School or University administration and to be involved in enhancing eLearning and on-line teaching initiatives.
The level of appointments (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) will be determined by the selection panel, who will interview short-listed applicants in Edinburgh in the 2-week period beginning 2nd March 2015. Applications must be submitted by 17:00 on 30th January 2015.
