Applications are invited for a 15 month Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position in the Institute for Materials and Processes within the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh.
The appointee will work as part of a research project with the overall objective of developing the next-generation dishwashers and washer-dryers achieving 50% energy saving compared to the conventional technology by using energy and water storage in porous materials. This project offers an opportunity to test experimentally emerging classes of porous materials in the context of novel applications, to understand fundamental issues associated with their application and to initiate actual technological deployment of the outcomes with the industrial partners involved.
The specific project will include also theoretical investigation at material level (adsorption equilibrium and kinetics) and system level (thermodynamics and dynamics of systems for air dehumidification) to identify the factors affecting the performance and reach the goal of 50% energy saving.
