Engineering Students Cycling into the Record Book for Charity

One of our 5th year Mechanical Engineering students, Euan Hunter, is currently attempting to break the world record for cycling solo through all 48 contiguous US States.

Euan, who started the challenge on 23rd May, hopes to complete this challenge with help from his support team comprising of 3 other mechanical engineering students from Edinburgh -  Duane Walker, Iain Skinner and Kenneth Errington.

On completion of the challenge, Euan will have cycled a distance the equivalent of completing the Tour de France 3 times, with an elevation gain equivalent to climbing Mt. Everest 5.5 times!

Euan and his team are taking part in the 48 state cycle to raise money for Mary's Meals, a Scottish charity that provide a meal a day for school children in some of the worlds poorest communities. Their goal is to raise £5,856, enough to feed 480 children (10 for every state that they visit) for 1 year.
