Monitoring the production of metal particles in the lubrication system of engines and gearboxs using inductive techniques can give information on their "health", and lead to economies in maintainance.
Radio Frequency cutting of Materials
Recently I have become interested in the use of RF energy to power electro-discharge machining of hard materils such as silicon. EDM is a well established technique for the cutting and shaping of hard materials that are good electrical conductors. By using RF energy to power the process it is possible cut materials that are less conducting such as silicon.
