Having previously studied Maths and Physics, Alfred transitioned into engineering via the Wind and Marine Energy Systems Centre for Doctoral Training. After the initial training year of the PhD programme, comprising a mixture of taught and research-based modules at the University of Strathclyde, he is now undertaking the main body of PhD research at the University of Edinburgh. The research primarily focuses on numerical modelling of sloped buoy wave energy converter concepts, with both a view to developing and validating accurate models, in addition to optimising system performance.
