Georgios Kanellopoulos graduated MEng in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His undergraduate focus was on structural engineering, with his thesis being on heat transfer through perforated brick walls.
His current focus is on the external effect of fire from a timber or timber lined compartment. Experimentation is carried out at the laboratories of the BRE Centre for Fire Safety Engineering.
