Postgraduate study

We are always looking for outstanding graduates to join us for postgraduate study. Our postgraduate students work closely with academics to further their careers as industrial or academic chemical engineers, or before moving into new areas. We offer both taught and research-based postgraduate degrees.

We offer an MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering, with more information available on the Programme page and on the University of Edinburgh degree finder. Our MSc degree is accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers, the key global professional chemical engineering body,  as "Partially meets the requirements for Chartered Chemical Engineer status".

PhDs in Chemical Engineering

At any time our academics are offering a number of exciting PhD projects (a mixture of funded and non-funded) listed here. These are an opportunity for talented graduates to conduct a long-term innovative research project in a World-leading research environment. Positions on offer are typically funded through many streams: industry, research council, government and Univeristy-based Scholarships, and we also consider applications from self-funded students. Alternatively, prospective students may be interested in one of the Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) offerred at Edinburgh, listed here.
