Links with Industry in Electronics and Electrical Engineering

The Electrical Engineering and Electronics discipline at the University of Edinburgh has strong links with industry, ensuring that our staff are not only at the forefront of their own discipline, but that they are in touch with the latest developments within the subject area. We make extensive use of industrial contacts, both for industrial visits and supervision of design projects in the later years.

Industrial Advisory Board

Part of the link Electronics and Electrical Engineering has with industry is the Industrial Advisory Board. The board is made up of practising engineers from industry in the annual curriculum review process.

The board specifically advise and review on:

  • Strategy in both teaching and research
  • Academic content of courses
  • Strategy for recruitment of undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Promotion and marketing Electrical Engineering and Electronics to schools, industry, professional bodies and the wider community.

Industrial Scholarships

Electrical Engineering and Electronics also receives a great deal of input from companies who sponsor the School's Industrial Scholarships programme. This includes taking scholarship holders on industrial placements with their companies and supporting the same students in their design projects.
