Ameson Chinese Elite (ACE) Programme

Ameson Chinese Elite (ACE) is a programme offered by the Ameson Education & Cultural Foundation jointly with The University of Edinburgh.

An alternative application route that applies only to applicants from the Peoples' Republic of China for entry to study any undergraduate degree subject offered at The University of Edinburgh is through a scheme organised for Edinburgh by the Ameson Foundation in China (  This route is applicable for all degree programmes offered by the School of Engineering.

Academic Entry Requirements

For Year 1 entry:

AST Maths 200/300
AST English 130/200
AST Physics 200/300

High School grade average of above 80% (A, Excellent)

Year 2 entry as follows:

AST Maths 250/300 AST
English 145/200 AST
Physics 250/300

High School grade average of above 80% (A, Excellent)

English Language Requirements

Before we can accept your application, you need to pass an IELTS test with a score of at least 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.

  • If you are interested in applying for entry in 2018, you should start planning now. Discuss everything with your parents and family, as well as your teachers. The earlier you start planning, the easier it is to make all the arrangements in time.

  • Look at our programmes by reviewing our degree programme tables; these are published by the University and provide full details of the structure of each degree programme (http:// and ask for any further information you need. 

  • Under this scheme prospective applicants must be nominated by their schools and will be required to take Ameson Scholastic tests(ASTs) in Mathematics, English and Physics in at centres in China no later than 31 August 2017. The results of these tests, and other examinations taken, will be used to pre- select applicants for interviews in China by University of Edinburgh interviewers in October 2017 (for 2018 entry).
