To support the next generation of academic research and innovation leaders in data sciences and artificial intelligence and drive the outcomes of the City Deal opportunity we propose to appoint (across the three Colleges) up to 30 new Chancellor’s Fellows in Data Driven Innovation. This follows the success of similar schemes over the last five years in which the University has appointed over 250 Chancellor’s Fellows.
These prestigious awards are aimed at early career individuals of the highest potential and attainment who have begun to establish a reputation for the highest quality research at the forefront of their discipline and who have a commitment to learning and teaching at university level. Candidates already holding an externally-funded Fellowship are welcome to transfer this to Edinburgh if the sponsor permits. International candidates are welcome and will be supported through the process of visa application if required.
The Robotics and Autonomous Systems theme includes research in humanoid and bio-inspired robots, soft robots, electric vehicles, robot perception and action, process sensing and imaging, control, machine vision, autonomy and decision making, manufacturing automation, robotic surgery, human-robot interaction, and the application of machine learning in these areas.
