PhD Student Delin Hu wins the SRPe PECRE Award

Delin Hu, a first-year PhD student in the School’s Agile Tomography Group at the Institute for Digital Communications (IDCOM) was recently awarded the 2019/20 Postgraduate and Early Career Researcher Exchanges (PECRE) Award by the Scottish Research Partnership in Engineering (SRPe).

Supervised by Dr Yunjie Yang and Dr Francesco Giorgio-Serchi, Delin’s PhD research focuses primarily on developing advanced sensing and learning methods to enable high-level soft robot perception and control, for biomedical applications.

The PECRE Award provides skills and capabilities development opportunities for postgraduates and early career researchers to build experience of international collaboration with academia and/or industry across Europe, North America, China and India.

The award will enable Delin to pay a two-month research visit to the Soft Transducers Lab at EPFL, Switzerland, to work on a collaborative project entitled “Soft robot perception: fabrication and deployment of a flexible sensor array”.
