I am a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering within the Institute for Energy Systems (IES) at the University of Edinburgh. My background is in energy storage, marine energy testing facility design, and turbomachinery.
Professor Gareth Harrison is Head of the School of Engineering and Bert Whittington Chair of Electrical Power Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. He holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Doctorate from the same institution.
The UK Carbon Capture and Storage Research Centre (UKCCSRC) leads and coordinates a programme of underpinning research on all aspects of CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) in support of basic science and UK government efforts on energy and climate change.
The aim of the group is to develop cost-competitive technologies for electricity and thermal energy storage. The work ranges from the development of the storage technologies to their integration into the wider energy system.
