Visit Us

At the School of Engineering we believe it is important for all new students to have the opportunity to visit the University before commencing their studies, whether in person as part of one of our Open Days or online through our Virtual Visits.

Open Days are a great opportunity to come and see the University for yourself. You can find out about student life in Edinburgh from the people who know it best - our students and staff. You can also explore the campus, learn more about the range of degrees available and ask questions about admissions, accommodation and job prospects. Booking will open approximately six weeks in advance of each Open Day.

If you are unable to attend an open day, we offer other opportunities to visit the School.

We have self guided tours of the King's Building Campus and the George Square Campus available.

We offer a series of virtual visits to the school, where applicants and prospective students can meet with staff in an online setting and chat with the them using audio or text to find our more about the School and the programmes we offer.

A virtual visit is an on-line interactive session where you will get the opportunity to listen to presentations from members of academic staff within the School of Engineering, and the chance to ask any questions that you have. The presentations cover:

  • Life in the city of Edinburgh
  • The University of Edinburgh structure
  • Opportunities for study available in the School of Engineering
  • Accommodation options
  • Details of the programme of study you are interested in

We will send virtual visit invites to students via email.

All participants are encouraged to find out how Collaborate works, and test out their PC and connection by following the steps on the Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing instructions.
